Sruthi Hariharan speaks of sex for film offer culture: Joining the issue with a few of her contemporaries, actress Sruthi Hariharan has asserted that the culture of expecting sex from actress in return of film offers was still in vogue among film-makers.
28-year old Bangalore-born ‘Tamil girl’ Sruthi, played ‘action king’ Arjun’s heroine in his landmark 150th film Nibunan which released recently and taste success at the box-office. The crew even organized a success meet to celebrate the film’s success. Sruthi, who has been starring in Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil films, made the above-said revelation s while taking part in a reality television show.
She conceded that the culture of expecting sex from actresses (mostly newcomers) in return of film offers was still in vogue among film-makers and producers. “It is actually a crime but it is very much in existence. As very few complaints are made to the police, the practice has been going on unabated and in a shameless manner,” Sruthi said.
“An actress should get film offers based purely on her acting/dancing instincts and not for any other ‘consideration’. It is also wrong on the part of many actresses to keep mum about this,” she concluded, joining the issue with Mollywood’s Hima Shankar who spoke about this issue only a few days back.
